Questions and answers

What is tech.org.au?

tech.org.au is a free, not-for-profit Australian community resource offering plain-language technology help and how-to guides. No jargon and no sales pitch, just practical tech help you can trust, written for everyday people.

Is the advice free?

Yes. Every guide and article on the site is free to read, and the fixes we recommend use the free tools already on your devices. We do not sell products or push paid software you do not need.

How is tech.org.au funded?

tech.org.au is a not-for-profit community resource supported by the Australian technology business Alien IT. We never rank products, take affiliate commissions, or accept payment for mentions. You can read the full detail on our How we are funded page.

Who writes the guides?

Guides are written and edited by Angus Lewington, the founder and public editor of tech.org.au, drawing on hands-on experience helping everyday people with real tech problems. Every guide is reviewed and dated so you can see when it was last updated.

How current is the advice?

Technology changes, so each guide shows a last updated date and we revise them as apps and settings change. If you spot something out of date, let us know and we will fix it.

Can I ask a specific tech question?

Yes. Use the contact form or email angus@tech.org.au with your question. Common questions often become new guides, so asking helps other readers too.

Do you store my personal information?

Only what you send us. If you subscribe to the newsletter we keep your email address to send you updates, and if you use the contact form we keep your message so we can reply. We never sell your details, and you can ask us to delete them at any time.
